I am an Associate Professor in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Victoria, BC, Canada, where I hold an NSERC University Faculty Award.

I aim at furthering the collaborative side of software development practice to support improved software development processes and software products' quality. My research interests thus lie in the areas of Software Engineering, Human-Computer Interaction and Computer-Supported Cooperative Work.

I lead SEGAL (Software Engineering Global interAction Laboratory). Our goal is to advance the practice of collaborative software engineering, particularly in global software teams which work across geographical, temporal and organizational boundaries. Our research methodologies include learning from advances in research as well as from software developers' work practices.

Current projects in collaborative SE are addressing issues of requirements engineering, software quality, knowledge management, human-computer interaction and computer-supported cooperative work.  If you are interested in collaborating with SEGAL or becoming a graduate student in the SEGAL lab, visit the list of our projects and drop me a note with specific details on how and why you would like to work on these projects.
