Data Network Lab Additions with CFI funding

With the help of CFI funding, our data network lab is enhanced with the following equipment: Simena Traffic Generator and Emulator, SmartHawk Layer 2 and Layer 3 Analyzer from Solana Networks, Four NetFPGA systems and other networking devices.

Data Network Lab

This lab is donated by Alcatel-Lucent. It consists of four 7450 ESS Alcatel-Lucent L2 service boxes with Network Management Software. The lab will be used to teach/research advanced networking concepts such as MPLS, L2 VPLS and QoS.

Network Processor Research

This lab is developed with the Research Tools support from Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC). It consists of an Intel IXP-2400 based network processor card (ENP-2611) from Radisys corporation. The facility is used to research usage of network processors for various high-speed packet processing applications. This facility also has two NetFPGA based systems.

ATM (Asynchronous Transfer Mode) Network

This is a 3-node ATM network consisting of Fore/Marconi ASX-200BX switches with OC-3 optical interfaces.
