Research Interests

Current areas of research interest include:

                 • Fault tolerant systems

                 • Design for testability and built-in self-test

                 • The analysis of linear machines

                 • The verification and testing of digital systems

                 • Applications of educational technology

                 • Switching theory and logic design

                 • Multiple-valued systems

Notes

Recently, my preferred mode of working is collaborative. Indeed, for a number of our current projects, group involvement is critical, since no one individual has the required range of expertise to attack the problems concerned, and this is apparent from the publication list that, I was sole author only on many earlier papers. I have always been pleased by my ability to collaborate effectively on research projects, as is evidenced by there being over thirty different co-authors involved in the papers listed.

The choice of publication vehicles is dictated, to some degree, by frustration with those that have unreasonably long publication delays (such as IEEE Trans. Comp., where delays of over two years are not uncommon, although this has improved in the last few years), and a wish for our new results to appear in the open literature in a timely manner.
